Seattle Sounders

I went to my first professional Soccer game last night and I LOVED it!!!  Let me tell you Seattle Sounders fans are the craziest kind of fan EVER!  Now I love me some NFL football and I think Steelers fans are pretty amazing, but they could take lessons from Sounders fans.

-As the team was introduced the announcer only said the first name of each player because the entire crowd yelled the last name of each player.
-12,000 + people sung the National Anthem and didn't mess it up.
-12,000 + people stood for the ENTIRE match!!
-12,000+ people knew the words to ever song and chant and were singing and chanting the ENTIRE match!
-Soccer fans are Hard Core when the refs mess up or there is an injury to an opponent.  No sympathy and profanity is apparently a necessity.

I have never experienced anything like it, and let me tell you I'm hooked!  The Sounders won 1 to 0.  Even though there was only one goal scored it was constant non-stop action the whole time.  I was jumping up and down with excitement the whole 90+ minutes!

I can't wait until I get to go to another match!

Finally a home-town team I'm proud to be a fan of!!!

Our seats were awesome!!!  This picture was taken from our seats.

Me on the end, Danielle, Cara and Sandi.

Thank you Sandi for being a season ticket holder and getting extra tickets for us to this game!

With last nights win the Sounders are playoff bound and I can't wait to see how they do!

Adoption Timeline

You will notice a new item on the timeline...that much closer to a court date to finalize!

P.S. - three posts in one day! I'm going to be at Bob and Michelle's until Sunday watching the kiddos while they are out of town...won't have much computer time.

Sky's Headband!

Not that she needs a headband to look like a girl, but it is pretty cute!

Houston We Have a Problem!!

I discovered last night that I have cracked heels. Yep, that's an S, both heels have big old cracks in them.

I wear a ton of sexy, cute high heels and summer shoes, I CAN NOT have cracked heels!

I give myself a pedi every two weeks, my feet ALWAYS look cute, year round. I put lotion on them, soak them and scrub them and have never had cracked heels before.

It has to be running, specifically running in hot weather and having sweaty feet and friction. (Have I mentioned how much I don't love running in the heat?! I would rather run in snow than in anything over 74 F!)

What am I going to do?! This is not acceptable at all. I put A&D ointment on them last night and socks. I hope that helps!

Sweet Ride

You may remember that back in May Mark bid on a ride in this 58 Corvette for me. As a birthday present. Well I patiently waited, and waited, and waited some more for sunny weather, and for Fred and I to coordinate schedules. Mostly it was my schedule that was a pain with vacations, camping, and a new baby in the house.

Any way it finally worked out. Fred picked me up Friday afternoon, and we drove 5 Mile Drive, the Water Front, and hit a cruise-in next to the Sonics in Tacoma. We chatted at the cruise-in for a bit then went over to Sonics for dinner.

I had so much fun ridding around in this car!!! First of all it's my DREAM CAR, and I got to sit in it, and feel the wind in my hair while enjoying the sound of a good old fashion American Muscle Car Engine. I was in heaven!

I have never been in a car that gets so much attention. People were waving, giving thumbs up, and yelling out their windows about how nice the car was. Fred took it all in stride, while I was smiling like a fool the entire time.

I really enjoyed visiting with Fred, and hearing about the car's history and work that went into it. I also learned that Fred's wife is in the last 6 weeks of chemo, and has a final scan in 6 weeks to give her the "all clear". I will be thinking of them both every day until I hear that all is well.

On the way home Fred pulled over and told me to drive it on home. So I kicked my flip-flops off and got in the driver seat. I was so scared...please don't let me the one to mess up such a beautiful car! I was a bit cautious...every clutch is different so I was slow to get started, but let me tell you, that was way more than I hoped for! And, I know I had the biggest smile on my face all the way home!!

Thank you Fred for taking the time to support Relay, and for going way above and beyond by letting me drive! I had so much fun, am more in love with the 58 Corvette than I was before, and can't wait to hear the good news in 6 weeks!

Things That Make Sky Smile

-Bath time
-Clean diapers
-Getting up in the morning
-Laying on her play mat and batting at her toys
-Talking to her
-Monkey Butt powder - she loves a dry booty
-Bicycle legs with daddy
-She smiles just as she falls asleep and her pacifier falls out
-Lot's of smiles we have no explanation for, she just smiles a lot!

FOOTBALL!!!

I'm watching football, it's not even "my" team, but I am SO HAPPY right now!

I love the sound of the whistles, the crowd, the helmets hitting each other, the QB calling out the play...and even though the announcers have already shown an amazing lack of knowledge/intelligence I'm even enjoying listening to them.

The only bad football thing today...rookie running back Baron Batch tore his ACL today and is out for the season. I have been following his blog ever since he was drafted by the Steelers and he seems like a humble unique young man and I was really looking forward to seeing him play this year. I hope he has a speedy recovery and is back on the field in black n gold!

Trail Run

Michelle and I did a trail run last night, just over 3 miles in 54 minutes. Slow I know, there were several challenging hills and the trail through the woods was littered in downed trees and steep down-hills.

So we took our time. I felt good last night no pains, and feel great today. Can't wait to run again later this week.

Shin pain

Michelle and I were going to run again tonight...I'm not going to make it. My left shin hurts to point that I'm limping. I had a massage today and she worked me over good, but still limping.

I'm going to give it a rest today and plan on hitting the beach this weekend while we are camping and see how running on some sand feels. Nice and easy pace on a forgiving surface.

Evening Run

Michelle and I ran tonight, for me it's the first run in over a month...yep I know I have been slacking. But, in my defense I have been doing P90X and a 90 day Tracy Anderson Program, plus walking Chambers Bay golf course at least once if not twice a week.

But tonight's run kicked my ass. It was hot, my legs were already incredible sore from P90X Yoga, (yep that's right 1:20 minutes of Yoga that killed my legs and fired up my core), and I have not been running as often as I should.

So I paid for it tonight. Lesson learned, I must run even when I don't have a race right around the corner. I now know that I need a race a month because if I don't feel like I have something imminent to train for I am not all that motivated to run.

It's strange because I miss running when I don't stick to a regular schedule and it makes my sort of crazy to not be running, but at the same time Sky is great motivation for just staying at home and taking a nice easy walk with her instead. I need to get over that quick...oh I should so start running with her! That is why I registered for the jogging stroller after all. A little light bulb moment!

My next race is 9/17...http://www.runwenatchee.com/riverrun2011/

I'm supper excited to run this race with my Dad and for the Brooks shirts we will get when we finish!!!

So that is my motivation for now.

October will be a busy race month for me, but more on that once I have registered officially.

Parenting Lesson Learned

I have learned to pack the diaper bag when I get home from an outing, not as I'm getting ready (more like rushing around on the verge of running late) to leave the house for an outing.

Running late stresses me out, and taking time to pack the diaper bag just stresses me out even more. But, more importantly it will help me not forget to pack the diapers!
