Ninja Running

I got my a$$ out there and got a run in.  Only 2.7 and it was an easy pace, but felt hard because I was so dang cold.  Thankfully there was zero wind, otherwise it would have been way worse!

The face cover saves my lungs from the searing cold air, but I do get called a ninja a lot when I wear it.  I know I'm being a baby about this...there are runners out there running in sub 10 degree weather.  For perspective it was 27 at the end of our run.  Now that I've broken the seal on the cold weather running I think I'll be fine.  Just had to get out there the first time and embrace it.

P.S. - those boots are ridiculous to run in, she fell every few feet, but jumped up and took off again!

As you can see Sky loved it!  When we got back to the care she yelled at the top of her lungs, "I LOVE RUNNING!", for all to hear!  It's all her, she was begging to get out and run which is why I stopped at 2.7 instead of going for 3...she was getting very vocal about it.

Even though we were both chilled and had runny noses we hit up the park for some play time after we were done running.  She lives this swing so much.  I call it the lazy swing, because it's like a lounge chair and does nothing for teaching her to swing herself.  But after running in the cold I thought she deserved a bit of pampering.  :)

Now for nachos, beer, hot coffee, and a hot shower to warm back up!

Have a great weekend and stay warm out there!

I'm a Wimp!

Monday I'll have an adidas Glide Boost review, and comparison to Energy Boost post up!!!

I have no problem admitting that it has been too dang cold for me to run the last few days.  I literally can't make myself gather the desire or determination to even think about attempting it.  Every time I left the house to run errands today I was sufficiently frozen from the wind thus confirming that running was a dumb idea.  I know there are some hardy souls out there running and I'm proud of them, but it does nothing to make me want to attempt it.

I have the cold weather running gear, and I have run in rain, wind, snow, and the freezing cold before...so the only thing I can say is yes I'm being a wimp.  But, it all ends tomorrow.  Sky is going to lose her mind, and in turn so am I, if she does not get some serious play time outside the house.  The only way I can handle standing around in the cold while she plays, or runs at her pace, is if I work up a good sweat first.  So, we are running in the morning, no if's and's or but's about it.  Bundling up and braving the cold.

Wish me luck and resolve to actually follow through and do it!

A few pictures from the last two days...

I love everything about this picture!  She loves that hat and sweater so much that she wears both around the house like we don't have heat.  I love that she wanted to lay next to me on the floor while I did core work.

I think she was irritated that the click sound my phone camera makes interrupted her story time.

I love this basket of spices from my sister-in-law!  I already put half of them into pretty glass jars before I thought to take a picture...it was full of bags of spices and herbs.  The best part is it's all stuff I use, a lot!  I have been wanting to organize and my herbs and spices, and put them in pretty containers, and this basket gave me the perfect opportunity!

Every morning when she gets up from bed the first thing she says is, "I need cuddles in Daddy's chair". Usually that means with me, since Daddy is at work, but sometimes it means curling up by herself as she waits for pancakes and eggs for breakfast.

How do you stay warm while running in the cold?

Cool Weather Running - Not Ready

I seriously can't believe that I'm already thinking about Fall/Winter running!  When I got up the other day for a run and it was cooler and raining I was actually stumped as to what to wear.  It has been skirts and tanks for almost 4 months now.

As much as I'm irritated by all the it's the end of summer talk it did prompt me to take a look at my cold weather running gear.  I've been wearing some of the stuff long enough that it's time to replace it and/or I'm at a point in my running life that I'm not willing to put up with stuff that does not function perfectly.  So there are some items that have been tossed.

I was super sad to lose my favorite long sleeve, wore it on every cold run for two winters, top.  It is surprisingly still in perfect condition but it smells like a mountain goat and that's before the run starts.

I have my eye on this top from Lululemon:

It's taking some hits from the customer reviews though, so I'm not totally ready to spend the money on it given some of the issues people are having.

There are two tops in the store that I have my eye on as well, but am being patient for Diva night on the 19th.  20% off all apparel!!!  I may even be able to get new running tights as well with the discount.  My go too ones are still in good shape, but they are starting to pill a bit.

I found these Athleta ones that I love, and it's Athleta ones that I need to replace:

But, like I said I'm waiting for Diva night at the store.  In the meantime I'm going to go in and pre-try everything I have my eye on so I know what size and color I want so I can breeze in and grab them quick and not have to wait in dressing room lines!

Until then I will window shop and save my pennies for the 19th!  I'm so excited for wine at the pre-party and then Nuun tini's at the store!  Should be a fun evening with some great running ladies!

Any must have cold weather running item that you love?
